Bookings for Mahindra BE 6 and XEV 9e to open next week
Mahindra's electric origin SUVs set for phased deliveries starting March 2025
Mahindra will open bookings for its complete lineup of XEV 9e and BE 6 Electric Origin SUVs on February 14, 2025, at 9 AM in Mumbai. The phased delivery schedule is set to begin mid-March 2025 with Pack Three variants, while other packs will be delivered between June and August 2025.
Customers can indicate their model and variant preferences on the official website starting February 6, 2025, from 10 AM onwards. The company has implemented a structured production ramp-up to meet the anticipated demand for these electric SUVs.
"Mahindra's Electric Origin SUVs have set new benchmarks with world-beating features, making it an #UnlimitIndia pride moment," the company stated.
Mahindra has invested in advanced battery technology and partnered with Adani Total Energies E-Mobility Limited to expand EV charging infrastructure across India. Additionally, the company has established a new EV manufacturing facility in Chakan, Maharashtra. These efforts align with Mahindra's broader strategy to support the EV market and India's transition to sustainable mobility.
Mahindra's phased delivery schedule addresses the growing demand for their electric SUVs. The company's investments in battery technology and EV infrastructure signify its commitment to India's shift towards sustainable mobility.
Built on the new INGLO platform, these vehicles represent a significant investment for M&M as it attempts to transition from its traditional focus on combustion engine SUVs. However, the company faces stiff competition in a market segment that is rapidly becoming saturated.
For M&M, the success of these EVs is crucial. The company is betting heavily on the INGLO platform and needs to see a return on its investment. Whether these new models can capture significant market share remains to be seen. Tata Motors currently dominates the Indian EV market, and other established players like Hyundai are also vying for dominance.
While M&M boasts of the BE 6 and XUV e9's advanced features, range anxiety remains a significant barrier to EV adoption in India, and M&M will need to convincingly demonstrate that their vehicles can alleviate these concerns.
Both vehicles adhere to current SUV design trends, with aerodynamic profiles and spacious interiors. Ultimately, the success of the BE.06 and XUV.e9 will depend on factors beyond design and technology. Pricing is a critical factor in the price-sensitive Indian market.
