Ather Energy has received approval to list and retail its electric scooters through the Canteen Stores Department (CSD) portal, opening sales to eligible Armed Forces personnel starting September 2026.
The approval makes Ather one of the first two electric two-wheeler manufacturers in India to have its vehicles available via the CSD platform. A total of eight variants spanning the Ather 450 performance series and the Ather Rizta family scooter lineup will be sold through the channel, while the limited-edition Ather 450 Apex remains excluded from the listing.
Under the arrangement, eligible defence personnel and veterans can purchase listed models with manufacturer-backed discounts, which will apply on top of the standard Goods and Services Tax (GST) concessions provided on CSD purchases.
"Being among the first pure-play electric two-wheeler manufacturers to be listed on the CSD platform is a significant step for us," said Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer at Ather Energy Limited. "In practical terms, this gives Armed Forces personnel and their families access to Ather scooters through a channel they already trust and use for their everyday purchases. A big part of expanding EV ownership is simply about availability, making sure the product is where customers already are.".
