Andhra Pradesh Signs Rs 515-Crore EV Mobility Agreement with ThunderPlus-Led Consortium

The Government of Andhra Pradesh signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a consortium led by ThunderPlus, along with ETO Motors and Roqit, at the Andhra Pradesh Partnership Summit in Visakhapatnam on November 18, 2025. The agreement, formalized with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board, outlines a ₹515-crore Multi-Modal Electric Mobility and Charging Infrastructure Program.

Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu endorsed the MoU in the presence of TG Bharath, Minister of Industries and Commerce. During the signing, the Chief Minister reviewed the consortium's mobility plan and committed to providing fast-track clearances and support for implementation.

The program is expected to generate more than 5,000 employment opportunities, including 1,450 direct positions and 3,100 indirect roles. The initiative includes provisions for women-led employment across various functions such as fleet operations, charging station management, customer support, and mobility management.

ThunderPlus will develop the charging infrastructure network across the state. The company plans to install 120 kW chargers at 25-kilometer intervals and 1 MW ultra-fast chargers every 100 kilometers along intercity routes and highways. ThunderPlus has already established a 3 MW charging hub in Vijayawada and 0.5 MW facilities in Nellajarla and Visakhapatnam. The company is also working on electrification plans for the Visakhapatnam-Chennai Industrial Corridor.

The program will begin implementation in two clusters: the Amaravati Capital Region, covering Gannavaram Airport, Vijayawada, Amaravati, and Guntur, and the Visakhapatnam Urban Region, including NAD Junction, Pendurty, Simhachalam, and Dwarakanagar. These areas will serve as the initial operational zones for the state's multi-modal EV shuttle system.

The consortium's plan includes integrating EV manufacturing, city and intercity operations, charging infrastructure, and a unified digital ticketing platform. Roqit will provide the single-ticketing system to consolidate different transport modes through one application.

Rajeev YSR, CEO of ThunderPlus Solutions, stated that the partnership aims to position Andhra Pradesh as a leader in clean mobility infrastructure. Nirmal Reddy, CEO of ETO Motors, emphasized the focus on creating a reliable urban mobility system for residents.

The consortium will coordinate with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board, municipal bodies, transport departments, and industrial corridor authorities to implement the program across the state.
