2026 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class to launch in India on October 5

Mercedes-Benz will launch the 2026 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class facelift in India on October 5, a little over six months after its global debut in March. The updated Maybach S-Class receives the visual and technology changes introduced with the standard S-Class, along with model-specific design elements, additional personalisation options and powertrain upgrades.

2026 Mercedes-Maybach S-Class gets revised styling

The Maybach S-Class retains its distinctive design but receives several updates. The front grille is now 20 per cent larger and features LED illumination, while an illuminated Mercedes star sits on the bonnet. The grille continues with the Maybach's signature vertical slats, along with an illuminated Maybach wordmark. The headlights are also new and larger, with three-pointed-star DRLs. The lower air dams feature a mesh pattern made up of small Maybach logos, while the D-pillar-mounted Maybach emblem is illuminated. The tail-lamps also get the three-pointed-star LED signature seen on the standard S-Class.

The Maybach remains 180mm longer than the long-wheelbase S-Class. New forged alloy wheels will be available in 20- and 21-inch sizes, including multi-spoke designs with a counterweighted Mercedes logo that remains upright as the wheels rotate.

More Maybach personalisation options

Mercedes-Benz is expanding the availability of its Manufaktur personalisation range. The Maybach S-Class will offer additional exterior colours and two-tone paint combinations.

Inside, customers can specify a wider range of extended leather upholstery, including leather covering lower sections of the cabin around the footwell. New upholstery colours are also available. For the first time on a Maybach, buyers can also choose a leather-free vegan upholstery option, which comes with its own design treatment.

Superscreen setup and new electronics architecture

The Maybach S-Class adopts the S-Class-inspired Superscreen layout, comprising a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 14.4-inch central touchscreen and 12.3-inch passenger display. A new electrical and electronic architecture uses four 'supercomputers' to manage functions ranging from the displays and safety systems to driving dynamics.

Rear-seat comfort remains a major focus. The rear seats can recline by up to 43 degrees, compared with 38 degrees in the standard S-Class, and feature heating, ventilation and massage functions. The previous tablet-style controller has also been replaced by two individual smartphone-style remotes for controlling various vehicle functions.

More powerful V8 and PHEV options overseas

Internationally, the updated Maybach S-Class is offered with petrol and plug-in hybrid powertrains.

The S 580 gets an upgraded 4.0-litre V8 with a flat-plane crank, producing 537hp and 750Nm. Some markets also offer the S 580e plug-in hybrid, combining a 3.0-litre inline-six with a 163hp electric motor and a 22kWh battery. Total system output is 585hp and 750Nm, with an electric-only range of up to 98km.

The range-topping S 680 is offered with either a V12 or a more powerful version of the V8 depending on the market. If this version comes to India, it is expected to use the 612hp, 850Nm version of the 4.0-litre V8.

Expected India price

The Mercedes-Maybach S 580 currently sold in India is priced at Rs 2.87 crore (ex-showroom) before options.

The facelifted model is expected to command a higher price due to its styling, technology, personalisation and powertrain updates. Mercedes-Benz has not yet confirmed which powertrain version will be offered in India.
