Yamaha has launched new versions of its Saluto RX (110) and Saluto 125, now equipped with UBS (Unified Braking System). The Saluto RX UBS is priced at Rs 52,000 in standard colours; meanwhile, the special ‘Darknight’ colour scheme has been priced at Rs 53,000. The Saluto 125 UBS (with drum brakes) has been priced at Rs 58,800, while the front disc equipped model will set you back Rs 60,500. The matte-green colour scheme will cost you an additional Rs 1,000.

UBS is a combined braking system that links the front and rear brakes and applies equal force to both. The Japanese manufacturer launched the safety system well before the introduction of the government mandate for CBS in two-wheelers below 125cc and ABS in vehicles above 125cc (April 1, 2019). Other than the addition of the safety tech, both the Saluto RX UBS and the Saluto 125 UBS remain identical to the current non-UBS-equipped counterparts.

The Saluto RX is a basic commuter motorcycle that runs a small 110cc motor producing 7.5hp and 8.5Nm of torque. The Saluto 125, on the other hand, is slightly more powerful, making 8.3hp and 10.1Nm of torque from its 125cc motor. Both bikes use 4-speed gearboxes.

In terms of competition, the Saluto RX takes on 110cc rivals like the newly-launched TVS Radeon, Honda CD 110 Dream DX, Bajaj Platina 100 ES and the Hero Splendor Plus. The Saluto 125 faces competition from the Bajaj Discover 125, Honda CB Shine and the New Super Splendor.
