Volkswagen India opens ‘tools library’ to actively support over 220 dealers

The Volkswagen Group India today inaugurated a ‘Tools Library’ near its manufacturing facility in Pune, Maharashtra. Strengthening its commitment towards an enhanced ownership experience, the unique Tools Library will support more than 220 Volkswagen Group dealer partners across the country.

Dealers will now be able to loan specialised tools and equipment whenever required. While the Volkswagen Group dealership facilities within 300km will receive a certified tool / equipment order within six hours, those located beyond 300km will receive their request within 24-36 hours. The initiative will enable the Volkswagen Group brands – Skoda Auto, Volkswagen and Audi – to serve its customers with quality job work in a time-bound manner.

The Volkswagen Group India Tools Library was inaugurated by Roman Havlasek, Director Aftersales – Skoda Auto; Justin Nolte, Director Group Aftersales - Volkswagen Group Sales India, and other senior officials from across the Volkswagen Group.

The Volkswagen Group Tools Library commissioned under the ‘India 2.0’ project will ensure that the right tools and equipment are made available at the workshops / dealerships, in the right quantity and at the right time.”

The Tools Library represents a major milestone in the implementation of the India 2.0 project. The Volkswagen Group India has invested Rs 1.7 crore in setting up the infrastructure of the tools library and stocking it with the right tools and equipment. In July 2018, the Volkswagen Group confirmed a Rs 7,900 crore (1 billion euro) investment in the India 2.0 project, which will primarily be used in developing Skoda Auto and Volkswagen vehicles for the Indian market. With the Technology Center, which was inaugurated on January 19, 2019, the Volkswagen Group laid the foundation for the development of products based on the localised sub-compact MQB A0 IN platform tailored to the needs of customers in the Indian subcontinent.

In September 2018, the carmaker opened a new Regional Distribution Center in Pune to ensure speedy genuine spare parts support for all models available in India under the Skoda Auto, Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, and Lamborghini marques. The entity had also inaugurated a centralised Warranty Parts Return Centre (WPRC) towards strengthening part analysis and product improvement earlier this year.
