Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has delivered a fleet of Toyota Hilux pickups to the Indian Army. The Hilux was put through over two months of extensive and rigorous evaluation by the Northern Command of the Indian Army.

According to TKM, “the Hilux outperformed in extreme weather and rough terrains – ranging from an altitude of 13000 feet to sub-zero temperatures.” The Toyota Hilux is globally recognised for its toughness, durability, reliability and off-roading capabilities.

V Wiseline Sigamani, General Manager – Strategic Business Unit (North), TKM said: “We are thrilled to deliver the Hilux, marking a significant milestone, fulfilling our first-ever Hilux order to Indian Army. The Hilux that offers unique off-roading characteristics, coupled with enhanced safety features, makes it the most ideal vehicle for the army purposes and cater to their special purposes..”

The Toyota Hilus is powered by a 2.8-litre, four-cylinder, turbo-diesel engine and available in option of six-speed automatic and manual transmission. All variants are equipped with 4X4 drive capabilities along with many first-in-segment features. The Hilux has a water-wading capability of 700mm, which makes it suitable for driving through Indian trails.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor launched the Hilux in the Indian market on March 31, 2022 at Rs 33.99 lakh.
