Toyota Hilux launched at Rs 33.99 lakh

Toyota Hilux launched at Rs 33.99 lakh

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) which opened bookings for the Hilux pick-up in January this has announced prices for the three variants, all 4X4, that will be on offer in India.

The entry level model will be Rs 33.99 (ex-showroom price for 4X4 MT Standard) while the two variants 4X4 MT High and the 4X4 High automatic version are priced at Rs 35.80 and Rs 36.80  respectively. The Hilux is being assembled from CKD kits at Toyota’s plant in Bidadi, Karnataka. The vehicle will take on the Isuzu D-Max V cross.

The Hilux is underpinned by the same IMV ladder-frame chassis that is also employed by the Innova Crysta and the Fortuner. The pickup truck also shares some interior trim and switchgear with the Fortuner in India. While the dashboard layout is slightly different from the Fortuner, the touchscreen, climate controls panel, instrument cluster, steering wheel and even the front seats are all shared. 

Under the hood is a 2.8 L four cylinder turbo-diesel engine and is available in an option of 6- speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission. 

The Hilux has been positioned as a lifestyle vehicle targeted at those who are keen on off-roading. Tadashi Asazuma, Executive Vice President, TKM said, “Ever since its launch, the sophisticated Hilux has managed to win the admiration of the customers with good response."
