The timeline for production milestones for the Tata Nexon keeps getting shorter. Tata Motors today rolled out its 400,000th Nexon from its Ranjangaon plant in Pune, exactly five years after the carmaker launched the game-changing model on September 21, 2017.

Proof of the surging demand for the Tata Nexon is the fact that the compact SUV became India’s best-selling utility vehicle in FY2022 and maintains that status in April-August 2022. Thus, with the company pushing production to keep up with consumer demand, it is not surprising that the latest 100,000-units production milestone has come up in a scant seven months, one month less than the 300,000-unit rollout.  The 300,000th Nexon had rolled out on February 28, 2022, eight months after the 200,000th unit had been produced, which was 46 months since the compact SUV was launched.

Sold in as many as 45 variants – 22 petrol, 18 diesel and five electric, with automatic and manual transmission options, the Tata Nexon's sales continue to accelerate at a rapid pace. And a new  one – XZ+(L) – has been launched today.

The high-on-style, big-on-content Nexon has recently received a facelift – the interiors are better, space and comfort levels remain good and the SUV impresses with its ride and handling. While the 1.5-litre diesel engine is better than the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol unit, the Nexon EV has carved a niche of its own and is India’s best-selling EV.

Tata Motors' sharpened focus on vehicle safety has paid dividends to sales, as customers are flocking to buy safer cars. In December 2018, the Nexon became the first made-in-India car to received a full 5-star adult safety rating by Global NCAP. Over the past five years, Tata Motors has constantly upgraded the Nexon for safety, GNCAP certification, design, regulations, emissions and segment defining feature additions.

With demand for compact SUVs showing no signs of slowing down, FY2023 should see the Nexon further making inroads into India’s ultra-competitive UV market. What has also helped Tata Motors with its fast-paced production is its better supply chain management throughout the last fiscal, essentially being able to deliver cars faster

New XZ+(L) variant launched
To celebrate the latest milestone, Tata Motors has expanded its existing 45-strong Nexon portfolio by launching a new XZ+(L) variant, available in petrol and diesel powertrains, with manual and automatic transmission options. It is priced Rs 11.37 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi) and offers features such as a wireless charger, ventilated leatherette seats, air purifier and an auto-dimming IRVM. It will also be offered in the #Dark edition of the Nexon.
