Okinawa targets EV demand in Maharashtra, to open showroom in Navi Mumbai

Electric scooter manufacturer Okinawa Autotech is expanding its retail footprint in Maharashtra, a state which is seeing growing adoption of electric vehicles. The company, which has a range of high- and low-speed e-scooters, set to inaugurate a new Galaxy showroom in Nerul, Navi Mumbai.

In what is now a trend, particularly among two-wheeler EV OEMs, showrooms like the Galaxy stores are experience centres designed to enhance customer engagement toward electric two-wheelers. This includes a behind-the-scenes view and the inner workings of the manufacturing process. Cutaway sections of its e-scooters enable visitors to closely examine key components such as the battery, motor and chassis. There is also a customisation zone, where customers can revamp their chosen vehicle with bespoke details.

Jeetender Sharma, founder and MD, Okinawa Autotech, said, "The idea behind opening an exclusive experience centre in Maharashtra is to offer our customers a one-of-a-kind experience to soak in the essence of Okinawa as a brand.”

Okinawa Autotech is among the top EV brands which are dominating the booming electric two-wheeler market in India. At halfway stage in CY2022, Okinawa Autotech is leading the EV chart of over 20 players in the fray with total sales of 47,121 units. This January-June 2022 performance has bettered the company’s CY2021 total sales of 29,945 units. The company clocked its best sales in April (11,012 units).
