Maruti Suzuki to recall 63,493 petrol hybrid Ciaz, Ertiga and XL6 due to likely fault in MGU
The company says a defect may have likely occurred in the Motor Generator Unit during manufacturing by an overseas global part supplier.
Maruti Suzuki India has announced a recall for 63,493 petrol Smart Hybrid (SHVS) variants of Ciaz, Ertiga and XL6 vehicles manufactured between January 1, 2019 and November 21, 2019. Recall campaigns are undertaken globally to rectify faults that may be potential safety defects.
The carmaker will inspect these 63,493 vehicles for a possible issue with the Motor Generator Unit (MGU). The company says a defect may have likely occurred in the MGU during manufacturing by an overseas global part supplier.
Maruti Suzuki says it will recall the vehicles for inspection; those found to be unaffected will be released immediately. Vehicles requiring replacement of faulty part will be retained for part replacement free of cost. Keeping in view customer convenience, Maruti Suzuki dealers may make alternate mobility arrangements in such cases, if required.
Maruti Suzuki dealers will be contacting the owners of the suspected 63,493 vehicles for inspection and replacement of the faulty part.
