Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) today announced that its cumulative BS VI two-wheeler sales have crossed the 11 lakh (1.1 million) sales mark in the domestic market. Interestingly, these sales have come from 11 BS VI-compliant models – 4 scooters and 7 motorcycles.

The four BS VI scooters are the Activa 6G, Dio, Activa 125 and Grazia 125. The seven motorcycles comprise the 110cc CD Dream and Livo, 125cc Shine and SP 125, 160cc Unicorn and X-Blade and and the 1100cc adventure legacy model – the 2020 Africa Twin Adventure Sports.

It may be recollected that HMSI’s BS VI retail journey began on September 11, 2019 with the rollout of the BS VI Activa 125, priced at Rs 67,490, a launch which was attended by Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari. The minister had said then, “Pollution is a major concern for India. To address this concern, we decided that we will move to BS VI norms across the country directly from BS IV by April 1, 2020. The launch of the first BS VI Activa125 will be a step towards a greener environment. I congratulate Honda 2Wheelers India for taking such initiative well ahead of time.”

The 11th BS VI model is the stylish 160cc motorcycle, the X-Blade, launched on July 7, at Rs 105,325. June 2020 saw all of three new BS VI models being launched – the CD 110 DreamLivo 110 motorcycles and the Grazia 125cc scooter .

According to the company, which currently has a 19.86% share of the overall two-wheeler market in India, 50.14% of the scooter market and 9.65% of the motorcycle market, the Activa 6G and the 125cc Shine are leading the charge from the 11-model BS VI portfolio.

Commenting on the new milestone, Yadvinder Singh Guleria, Director – Sales & Marketing, HMSI,  said, “It’s a matter of great pride for us at Honda that our 11 advanced BS VI models have won the vote of confidence. Our product portfolio stands out as the industry’s most diverse starting from 110cc scooters and motorcycles going up to an 1100cc premium adventure bike.”
