Gurgaon, February 14, 2013: BMW India has launched the new X1, which is produced in a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) operation at BMW Plant Chennai.
Commenting on the launch, Philipp von Sahr, president, BMW Group India, said, "Blending a high level of agility and compact exterior dimensions, the new X1 assumes a unique character."
To give the car a more upmarket appearance, the carmaker has carried out a whole slew of styling tweaks on the X1. The front gets a more heavily contoured bumper, an altered grille, more pronounced sockets for the round fog lamps and a completely redesigned lower section.
On the mechanical front, the X1 uses the same 2.0-litre diesel motor, but the carmaker has tuned it to now make 181bhp and 38.74kgm. The motor also comes with start-stop function. The update includes a new eight-speed automatic gearbox as well. It also features an ECO PRO mode, brake energy regeneration and a disengagable climate compressor.
Three trim-levels are on offer -- base, xLine and Sportline. The base variant includes climate control, electric wing mirrors and fog lamps, on board computer, audio system with CD/AUX/USB and 17-inch alloy wheels.
Prices for the face-lifted X1 start at Rs 27.9 lakh for the sDrive20D base variant while both the Sportline and xLine trims come for Rs 32.5 lakh (all prices ex-showroom, Delhi).
