A day after Euro NCAP revealed the test results of four quadricycles including Bajaj Auto’s Qute, the Pune-based manufacturer says it is “delighted to note that in its maiden endeavour at developing a quadricycle it has, by virtue of the Qute, matched the 1-star rating of European quadricycles such as the Axiam Crossover, as also exceeded the 0 (zero) star rating of others including the Ligier IXO JS.”
The Bajaj Qute, which was introduced in October 2015, is currently sold only in overseas markets and the company await governmental clearance for selling the quadricycle in India.
Bajaj Auto has in FY2015-16 exported a total of 334 units to 19 global markets ranging from Turkey and Russia to Indonesia and Peru. The company says production at the Waluj plant is being ramped up to export over 500 Qutes in April 2016 alone. For 2016-17, it has forecast total exports of the Qute at 10,000 units.
