Autocar Professional’s July 1 issue:  All about staying connected

It’s a new month with new promises and businesses are slowly limping back to normalcy. What has kept the world going during this difficult time is 24/7 connectivity. Telematics, connectivity and electronics are also what make the world of automobiles and the driving and riding experience an enjoyable one. Autocar Professional’s latest edition packed with exclusive interviews, the top trends and all the action from the automotive world. DOWNLOAD your copy today.

From the assembly line to the car’s cockpit to the dealerships, it is all a connected ecosystem across the automotive industry.

The cover story is on L&T Technology Services, which has upped the ante on vehicle telematics – it is working on a real-time 3D navigation for its Advanced Driver Assistance Systems and autonomous drive solutions based on 5G technology. Shailendra Shrivastava, Global Head of Transportation, says this will bring in a new wave of data engineering.

Tata Technologies, meanwhile, is working on a four-layered security system for connected vehicle solutions. In his first ever media interview since taking charge earlier this year, Frank Euvrard, Executive Vice-President and Global Head – Engineering, Research & Development lists out the details.

But the action is not restricted to the technology companies alone. OEMs are doing their bit too. German luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz is loading its cars with the latest digital experience with its intuitive in-car infotainment system, MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience).

Speaking on its unique ability, Manu Saale, Managing Director and CEO of Mercedes-Benz R&D India, reveals its evolution was “all out of passion to excel and also to grab the customer’s attention.”

What’s made the MBUX experience even more special in current times is the India-specific addition of the Covid-19 test centre details that MapmyIndia has integrated into its navigation software. Rohan Verma, CEO and director, says “MapmyIndia has reimagined and reinvented mobility” to build its unique CASE suite.

Several other mobility solutions providers are also making big waves in the connectivity context.

US-based Aeris Communications claims to offer a seamless experience to users with its ‘Aeris Mobility Suite’ based on Internet of Things. This technology pack allows OEMs to quickly deploy new connected vehicle applications.

Electric two-wheeler maker, Ather Energy is introducing a brand new dynamic with its Over-The-Air updates every quarter. In a bid to keep users engaged, the company is working aggressively towards monthly update.

Pure-play automotive cockpit electronics supplier Visteon is pushing for cutting-edge user experience. It aims to create consumer-centric experiences in the dynamic and ever evolving technology space.

Bosch is betting big on Internet of Things as well. As the Covid-crisis reveals connectivity chinks in the manufacturing and logistics segments, the technology and component supplier is looking at ways to make them more flexible to disruptions.

Retail
Automotive retailing is one space where technology is making a definitive in-roads. Gurgaon-based dealer management system provider, Orbitsys Technologies sees opportunities opening up in multi-brand car dealerships.

Maruti Suzuki India meanwhile launches a distinctive loyalty program – Maruti Suzuki Rewards. A first of its kind offering by Maruti, it will cover all passenger vehicle customers.

Car Care
Car sales might be looking tepid but going by Turtle Wax’s India plans, car care is still big. Announcing its entry to India in style, it has launched an extensive range of products that suit India conditions.

But that’s not all. This issue is packed with all the latest action and news across the automotive world in the last fortnight.
