Ahmedabad-based EV start-up announces its radial flux motor

The motor will debut in the company's first electric two-wheeler expected to be launched this year.

Ahmedabad-based electric vehicle start-up Matter has announced the development of its new, high-speed mid-torque radial flux motor christened 'Matter Drive1.0 Motor', which it claims comes with an integrated intelligent thermal management system. The motor will debut in the company's first electric two-wheeler expected to be launched this year.

The start-up says its radial flux motor incorporates –

  • A novel architecture of flux guide for optimum torque delivery
  • Advanced materials to achieve lightweight drive train
  • First-in-class active liquid cooling
  • Consistent torque delivery across the speed range for multi-speed transmission to aid better performance and efficiency while ensuring safety.

Mohal Lalbhai, founder and CEO, Matter said, “We wanted to build something that would shape the future for sustainable and innovative India through new-age mobility and energy solutions. The innovative Matter Drive 1.0 with the Integrated Intelligent Thermal Management System is one of its kind in terms of technology and design.”
