Thomas Spangler appointed chief technology officer at Brose

Thomas Spangler (50) has returned to headquarters after five years of service as the president of Brose Asia.

On July 1, 2015, he officially became the head of the automotive supplier’s newly created ‘Technology’ central division. In this role he is responsible for global production as well as control of Quality Brose Group, Logistics, Development Brose Group and Production Technology.

Thomas Spangler has been with the family-owned company since 1992. The graduate engineer has held various senior positions over the course of his career. From July 2010 on, he contributed significantly to the successful development of business in the growth region Asia. Turnover almost tripled from approximately €400 million to nearly €1.2 billion under his watch, while the number of people employed increased from 2,700 to approximately 4,400.

In his new position, Thomas Spangler’s objective is to consolidate the mechatronics specialist’s production network through new locations and to continue to increase productivity and quality. 46-year-old Jenny Xiang succeeds him as president of Brose China, while Stefan Halusa (50) will be responsible for Korea and Japan as the president of Brose East Asia.

The Technology central division replaces the previous Production department. The family-owned company has created this new organizational structure to meet the global requirements. Ensuring a consistently high level of quality worldwide and effective ramp-up management of complex projects demands perfect collaboration at the interfaces between product and process development and series production.

The international automotive supplier’s executive management board comprises seven people. CEO Jürgen Otto is joined on the board by the vice-presidents of the Doors, Seats, and Motors business divisions and the heads of the Finance and Commercial Administration, Purchasing, and Technology central divisions.
