Skoda's flagship seven-seat SUV, the Kodiaq, crash-tested by Euro NCAP has scored a 5-star rating. The car selected for the test was a left-hand-drive 2.0 TDI Ambition variant that weighs 1,635kg and is equipped with seven airbags (including a knee airbag), seatbelt pretensioners with load limiters, Isofix rear child seat mounts and seat belt reminder. It also included features like autonomous emergency braking, speed assistance and an optional lane-assist system at the time of the test.
In the test, the Kodiaq scored 92 percent for adult occupants, 77 percent for child occupants, 71 percent for pedestrians and 54 percent for safety assist system.
The Kodiaq is scheduled to be launched in India around the festival season this year. It'll be priced between Rs 27 lakh and Rs 32 lakh, and will sit slightly above the Superb in terms of positioning. It's also likely to boast high levels of luxury, comfort, space and equipment. When launched in India, the Kodiaq will go up against cars like the Hyundai Santa Fe and the Volkswagen Tiguan on one side, and body-on-frame SUVs like the Ford Endeavour and the Toyota Fortuner on the other.
