Volkswagen Group Research has recently begun testing automated vehicles in urban traffic in Hamburg.

FISITA, the international membership organisation for the automotive and mobility systems engineering profession, today announces the launch of its intelligent safety initiative, via an Executive Board authorised Intelligent Safety Working Group.

The Working Group is co-chaired by FISITA President-Elect, Nadine Leclair, Senior Vice President at Groupe Renault, and FISITA VP Technical, Prof. Mike Ma, from the Automotive Research Institute at Jilin University in China. Together, they will lead an international panel of experts over a two-year period, to develop a progressive agenda of work, which will conclude with the publication of the FISITA Intelligent Safety White Paper in September 2020.

The Working Group will also support the creation, delivery and development of the FISITA Intelligent Safety Conference, China. This conference will provide the important, collaborative platform through which the group can provide knowledge share and thought leadership in the area of intelligent safety, to an international audience.

The FISITA Intelligent Safety Conference, China has been developed through a unique collaboration between FISITA and China SAE, with the inaugural conference taking place on Wednesday 29 May 2019 within the International Congress of Intelligent and Connected Vehicles Technology (CICV) programme, taking place in Beijing, China.

The conference topics include:
- Standards and Regulations for Automotive Intelligent Safety
- Safety Analysis, Test and Evaluation for Automated Driving
-Safe Architecture Designing for Automated Vehicles (software and hardware architecture)

- Dr.-Ing. Jan-Erik Müller, Vice President, Complete Vehicle R&D China Research & Development Center, BMW China Services Ltd.
- Marc Pajon, Testing and Measurement Expert Leader, Groupe Renault
- Dr. Ted Huang, Chief Technology Officer & Assistant President, Jiangling Motor Co., Ltd.
- Zhao Wang, Chief Engineer, Auto Standardization Research Institute, China Automotive Technology & Research Center
