Bosch Mahle Turbo Systems (BMTS), a joint venture of Bosch and Mahle is preparing for growing demand for highly efficient, turbocharged petrol engines in China. On November 25, 2014, the company opened its first plant in Shanghai, China to manufacture turbochargers for the local market. The installed production capacity is over one million turbochargers per year.

The production plant is also the headquarters of Bosch Mahle Turbo Systems (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. in China and a 100 percent subsidiary of Bosch Mahle Turbo Systems GmbH. The site has its own research and development centre which is equipped with modern engine test benches, laboratory facilities and hot gas test benches.

The production was built on the model of the Austrian stabilizer in St. Michael and has high-precision equipment as well as synchronized production process steps. Around 100 new employees of BMTS China were trained in the main factories in Austria and Germany, to deliver quality products from the new plant.

With the ultra-modern production line along with end-of-line quality test in the assembly will examine production-ready turbochargers on functionality, internal and external leaks, correct assembly and a possible imbalance.

The company says contracts have already been signed with a number of local and international vehicle manufacturers.
