Bosch and Kyocera enter into agreement for haptic feedback technology
The license agreement enables Bosch to access Kyocera's patented haptic feedback technology for its automotive solutions.
The new agreement will authorise Robert Bosch car multimedia to incorporate Kyocera’s haptic feedback technology in their automotive solutions that include the infotainment systems.
Japan-based Kyocera Corporation has been creating haptic technologies through its own research and development since 2008 and licenses its patented technologies to industry players around the globe.
Kyocera’s patented ‘Haptivity’ technology contains a virtual reality innovation that enables real touch sensation on any human-machine interface. Kyocera has introduced this technology in the Japanese, U.S. and European tradeshows, and holds patents on this technology in multiple countries.
According to Kyocera, no panel has reproduced the sensation of pressing a mechanical button. Its original ‘Haptivity’ panel creates such a tactile sensation by stimulating finger nerves with a combination of pressure feeling and touch feeling. Using piezoelectric elements, Kyocera's technology makes it possible for panels to provide a more realistic button sensation.
Kyocera also develops devices, equipment and systems that incorporate its technology. In addition, the company continues to license its patented ‘Haptivity’ technology for a wide range of uses, including automotive and industrial applications.
