TVS Motor Co, the No. 1 electric 2W OEM in CY2025, leads the charge in CY2026 with sales of 15,935 e-scooters between January 1-15. Bajaj Auto, which sold 11,567 Chetaks, will be looking to bridge the gap with the launch of the new Chetak C2501.

The Indian electric vehicle (EV) industry has closed the first half of the first month of CY2026 with retail sales of over 100,000 units. Between January 1 and 15, a total of 100,819 EVs across segments have been delivered to buyers across India. They are led by e-2-wheelers (55,410 units) which account for 55% of total EV sales, followed by e-3-wheelers (35,405 units, 35% share), e-passenger vehicles (9,055 units, 9% share) and e-commercial vehicles (949, 1% share).
In the e-2W segment, the top four OEMs – TVS Motor Co, Bajaj Auto, have opened CY2026 on the same strong note wherein they exited CY2025 which saw record sales of 1.28 million units. In CY2025, this quartet with combined sales of 878,655 units had a 39% share of total e-2W retails. Now, in the first 15 days of January 2026, with 44,240 units, they have a 44% share of the 55,410 e-scooters delivered to customers.

TVS Motor Co, which topped the monthly sales chart eight times last year, currently leads January with 15,935 units. While the iQube would comprise the bulk of the sales, TVS will have benefited from initial customer deliveries of the recently launched Orbiter e-scooter.
Bajaj Auto has sold 11,567 Chetaks in first-half January, which puts it 4,638 units behind TVS. With the launch of the new and more affordable Chetak C2501 priced at Rs 91,399 (ex-showroom Bengaluru) on January 14, TVS’ Pune-based rival will be closing to close the sales gap. Powered by a 2.5kWh battery, the Chetak C2501 has a claimed IDC range of 113km on a full charge and goes head- to-head against the TVS iQube 2.2kWh and the Hero Vida VX2 Go.
Third-ranked Ather Energy has sold 10,644 units. The Rizta family scooter, which accounts for around 70% of Ather’s monthly sales, has benefited from the Battery As A Service (BaaS) business model which has enabled a reduction of the upfront price of the Rizta S to Rs 76,000, making the premium family scooter far more affordable. Ather also sells the 450X and 450S e-scooters.
Hero MotoCorp continues to see demand for its Vida brand of e-scooters, led by the VX2 models. The company has recently expanded the VX2 portfolio with the 3.4kWh variant (Rs 84,800) which joins the VX2 Go 2.2 kwH (Rs 73,850) and the VX2 Plus (Rs 94,800). Hero Vida also sells the V2 Pro (Rs 140,000) and V2 Plus (Rs 104,800). Meanwhile, Hero MotoCorp has entered the electric motorcycle market with a very different product – the Dirt.E K3 off-roader designed exclusively for young riders aged from four to 10 years old.
Ola Electric is ranked fifth on the e-2W OEM scale with 3,021 units in first-half January. On January 14-15, Ola held its Ola Muhurat Mahotsav campaign with an offer of reduced prices for its 4680 Bharat Cell product portfolio. Ola Electric’ portfolio comprises S1 scooters and Roadster X motorcycles. The premium S1 Gen 3 portfolio includes S1 Pro+ in 5.2kWh (with 4680 Bharat Cell), and 4kWh battery pack configurations, and S1 Pro in 4kWh, and 3kWh battery pack configurations respectively. The mass market offerings include Gen 3 S1 X+ (4kWh), and Gen 3 S1 X (4kWh, 3kWh, 2kWh). The Roadster motorcycle portfolio includes Roadster X+ in 9.1 kWh (with 4680 Bharat Cell), and 4.5kWh battery pack configurations respectively. The Roadster X comes with 4.5kWh, 3.5kWh, and 2.5kWh battery packs.
Greaves Electric Mobility (GEM), the EV arm of Greaves Cotton which markets the Ampere brand of e-scooters, continues the same No. 6 ranking as in CY2025 with sale of 2,286 e-scooters. The company currently has a four-model portfolio comprising the Nexus, Magnus Neo, Magnus Grand and the Reo 80 / Li Plus. GEM has, since its e-2W market entry in CY2019, crossed cumulative retail sales of 261,000 units.
Bengaluru-based River Mobility, now rebranded River EV, which has a single product – the River Indie – is now a regular fixture in the Top 10 e-2W listing and the No. 7 OEM in first-half January with 1,188 units. Considering November 2025 (1,821 units) has been its best month yet, January 2025 bids fair to beat that score.
Bgauss Auto, a Mumbai-based startup spawned by electrical solutions major RR Kabel, is ranked eighth amongst the Top 10 e-2W OEMs. Bgauss has delivered 1,083 units of its e-2Ws comprising the RUV 350 and Max C12.
Kinetic Green Energy, which sells the E-Zulu, Zing, and the E-Luna, takes up the penultimate position in the Top 10 ranking with 286 units. Kinetic plans to launch a new premium family scooter in CY2026, the first of three models to be launched over the next 18 months.
Revolt Motors, which was amongst the earliest OEMs to launch an electric motorcycle in India in CY2019, wraps up the Top 10 list for first-half January 2026 with 277 units. The company’s five-model portfolio comprises the RV1, RV1+, RV BlazeX, RV 400BRZ and RV400 with ex-showroom prices starting from Rs 100,000 to Rs 139,950 and claims annual savings of Rs 26,544 when compared to a conventional petrol-engine bike’s fuel cost of Rs 2,500 per month.
