Royal Enfield Sells Over 300,000 Bikes for the Second Time in a Quarter

Midsize motorcycle market leader sells 301,174 units in April-June 2026, beating the previous best of 301,174 units in Q3 FY2026 in the domestic market. The 32% YoY growth in Q1 FY2027 gives Royal Enfield a good foundation to surpass its record FY2026 sales of 1.10 million bikes.

Royal Enfield Sells Over 300,000 Bikes for the Second Time in a Quarter

Midsize motorcycle market leader Royal Enfield has sold 300,000-plus bikes for the second time in a quarter in the domestic market. In Q1 FY2027 (April-June 2026), the Chennai-based manufacturer dispatched (wholesales) 301,174 units to register solid 32% YoY growth (Q1 FY226: 228,779 units). Royal Enfield had surpassed 300,000 sales in a single quarter for the first time in Q3 FY2026 (October-December 2025) when it sold 3,00,426 units.

The record first-quarter numbers place Royal Enfield, which has recently diversified into electric mobility with the Flying Flea, well on track to achieve its highest fiscal-year sales. In FY2026, the company had sold 1.10 million bikes (11,07,343 units, up 23% YoY). If Royal Enfield maintains the same high double-digit growth rate in the remaining three quarters of the current fiscal year, it will cross the 1.2 million-units mark in domestic market sales for the first time.

The record sales in April-June 2026 numbers place Royal Enfield on track to achieve its highest fiscal-year domestic market sales of around 1.2 million units, beating FY2026’s 11,07,343 units.

These robust Q1 FY2027 numbers give Royal Enfield a 9% share of the 3.30 million motorcycles sold 10 bike makers, which is an improvement over the 8% in Q1 FY2026. However, on the export front, the company’s Q1 FY2027 dispatches at 29,253 units show a 20% YoY decline (Q1 FY2026: 36,749 units).

Royal Enfield has, at present, 16 models in the domestic market – Bullet 350, Classic 350, Hunter 350, Meteor 350, Goan Classic 350, the 443cc-engine powered Scram 440, the 452cc Himalayan 450 and Guerilla 450, the 650cc twins (Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650), Classic 650, Bear 650, Super Meteor 650, Shotgun 650 and Bullet 650, and the Flying Flea C6 electric motorcycle.

These models are classified into five categories of Heritage (Classic 350, Bullet 350, Goan Classic 350, Classic 650, Bullet 650), Cruiser (Meteor 350 and Super Meteor 650), Scrambler (Scram 440, Bear 650), Adventure (Himalayan 450), Pure Sport (Continental GT 650), Roadster (Hunter 350, Guerilla 450, Shotgun 650 and Interceptor 650) and Electric (Flying Flea C6).

Heritage matters: The Classic 350 remains Royal Enfield’s best-selling product.

Royal Enfield commands 85% share of 350cc segment sales, 97% of 500-650cc market

Royal Enfield’s vice-like grip of the midsize motorcycle market comes from its 350cc models. As per SIAM wholesales data for Q1 FY2027, of the bike maker’s sales of 301,174 units, 280,136 units – or a 93% share – belong to four models: the Classic 350, Bullet 350, Hunter 350 and Meteor 350. This gives RE an 85% share of this category’s overall sales of 327,697 units (up 49%) with Bajaj Auto (23,844 units) next best with a 7% segment share, followed by Honda (18,248 units, up 79% YoY) the next best with a 6% share. TVS (5,410 units, up 686%) has a 2% share.

The 350cc bikes (Classic 350, Bullet 350, Hunter 350 and Meteor 350) accounted for 280,136 units – or a 93% share – of Royal Enfield’s Q1 FY2027 dispatches of 301,174 units.

In the 350-500cc category, combined sales of the 452cc Guerilla 450 and Himalayan adventure bike at 9,883 units grew 25% YoY (Q1 FY2026: 7,891 units) give Royal Enfield a 59% market share of this sub-segment total sales of 16,707 units, down by a sizeable 38% YoY (Q1 FY2026: 27,152 units) mainly due to the 87% decline in Bajaj Auto’s sales of 2,085 units (Q1 FY2026: 16,549 units). Hero MotoCorp (Harley-Davidson X440 and Mavrick 440) has doubled its sales in this category to 3,783 units from 1,854 units a year ago.

Like the 350cc segment, Royal Enfield is also the boss of the 500-800cc sub-segment. However, the YoY decline in its Q1 FY2027 sales has also dragged overall segment numbers down by 8 percent. In the April-June 2026 period, RE sold 11,155 units, down 9% YoY (A1 FY2026: 12,229 units). This, nevertheless, helps it maintains the highest segment share of 97% in the 500-800cc bike category.
