Bengaluru-based Ather Energy has become the fourth Indian electric vehicle manufacturer and electric two-wheeler OEM to achieve cumulative retail sales (customer deliveries) of 800,000 units. As per the latest data available on the Vahan portal, Ather had clocked sales of 800,822 units from CY2018 till September 28, 2026 (see data table below).
Ola Electric, TVS Motor Co and Bajaj Auto are the other e-2W OEMs which have already achieved the 800,000 milestone. While Ola went on to become the first e-2W OEM to surpass one million sales in March this year, TVS raced past Ola in end-August to become India’s second EV ‘millionaire’. Bajaj Auto surpassed the 800,000 milestone in June this year.
As the retail statistics reveal, Ather Energy’s upward growth trajectory has come about in the past four years, with sales accelerating since CY2025. Between January 1, 2025 and September 28, 2026, this e-2W startup delivered 475,144 e-scooters to its customers. This effectively means that 59% of Ather’s total retails since CY2018 have come in the past 21 months, reflecting the rapid pace of demand for Ather EVs, particularly the flagship Rizta family e-scooter. This comes as the recently launched Ather Konarc entered the market following its official launch on August 29.
With 258,684 e-scooters delivered between January 1 and September 28, Ather has surpassed its CY2025 sales (216,460 units), on track to clock a record 350,000 units this year.
While sales in the first four years from CY2018 to CY2021 were minimal, and included the two-year impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, demand rose from CY2022 when Ather sold 54,773 units and accounted for an 8% share of the e-2W industry sales of 661,638 units.
In CY2023, when its retails crossed the 100,000-unit mark for the first time, Ather clocked sales of 111,812 units (up 104%), while its market share jumped to 12 percent. In CY2024, the EV maker clocked 136,512 units and an 11% share of the 1.21 million e-2Ws sold in India.
In CY2025, Ather scaled a new high for annual sales – 216,460 units with 59% growth – which gave it a 16% share of the record 1.34 million e-2Ws sold in India last year. Both these CY2025 statistics have been surpassed in CY2026 YTD with the top e-2W OEMs – TVS Motor Co, Bajaj Auto and Ather Energy – maintaining the same rich vein of growth they displayed last year.
Between January 1 and September 28, as per Vahan, 258,684 Ather scooters have been delivered to customers. This gives the EV OEM a 16.67% share of the 934,141 electric 2Ws comprising scooters, bikes and mopeds sold in India to date this year. This is Ather’s highest level, having surpassed CY2025’s 16.12 percent.
In March 2026, Ather clocked its highest monthly sales – 36,633 units – which was also the first time it crossed the 30,000 mark and had an 18% share of India 2W Inc’s second-highest monthly sales of 199,436 units. In fact, in the past 12 months – the manufacturer of the Rizta, 450S, 450X, 450 Apex and the Konarc, has crossed the 30,000-unit monthly sales mark four times: October 2025 (30,246 units), this March (36,633 units), June (31,527 units) and July (30,685 units).
In August, Ather Energy dispatched 217 units of the Konarc (launched on August 29) to its showrooms. Along with a host of EV rivals, the Konarc is also targeted at ICE scooter buyers.
Ather Dispatches 217 Konarc E-Scooters to Showrooms in August
In August, Ather Energy’s factories dispatched 29,694 e-scooters to company dealers across India. This marked the third highest monthly wholesales for the company after June (31,063 units) and July (31,044 units). While the Rizta (22,586 units, up 30% YoY) accounted for 76% of last month’s sales and the 450 accounted for 23% (6,891 units), the new Konarc sold 217 units in its first month.
Launched on August 29, the Konarc is Ather’s most affordable model based on the new EL platform. While the Konarc S 100km is priced at Rs 99,999, the Konarc S 125km costs Rs 1,21,999, and the Konarc S 161km Rs 1,44,999, ex-showroom Bengaluru. Prices for the Konarc S 200km (expected in Q3 2027) and Konarc Z 125km have not been announced.
Compared to its technology-driven premium products like the Rizta, 450S, 450X and 450 Apex, the Konarc strategically targets the mainstream mass-market and has the entry-level variants of the high-selling TVS iQube, Orbiter, Bajaj Chetak, Hero Vida VX2, Simple Wave and the new Ola S1 Z in its crosshairs. However, it is likely the Konarc will also eat into sales of its sibling, the higher-priced Rizta family e-scooter. In the first 28 days of September, Ather Energy has retailed 27,690 units, while market leader TVS Motor has sold 49,676 iQubes and Orbiters and Bajaj Auto 44,480 Chetaks.
Interestingly, Ather is also targeting ICE scooter buyers with the Konarc. Speaking to Autocar Professional a few days ago, Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer, Ather Energy, said: “The role of Konarc is to take EVs mainstream, which by definition means that we’re looking at weaning people away from ICE,” also stating that, “This is not about getting market share from somebody else. It’s really about getting share from the ICE world.” He added that for these customers, Ather first needs to address fundamental considerations around comfort, safety and battery life before features and technology become differentiators.
