Sustained demand for Toyota-made MPVs and SUVs as also the clutch of rebadged models along with ramped-up production and customer-friendly initiatives pays dividends.
As a result of sustained demand for its MPVs and SUVs as also the rebadged models like the Glanza, Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Taisor and Rumion, ramped-up production and a number of customer-friendly initiatives, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is having a good run of the Indian passenger vehicle market. As per the company, it has dispatched 25,752 units in June 2024, up 44% YoY (June 2023: 17,919 units).
While Q1 FY2025 wholesales at 68,407 units are up 34%, TKM's dispatches in January-June 2024 at 140,023 have increased by 44 percent YoY.
While June wholesales take the first-quarter FY2025 total to 68,407 units, up 34% year on year (Q1 FY2024: 50,894 units), which is 28% of FY2024’s record 244,940 sales, the growth trajectory can also be seen in the cumulative sales of the first six months of this year. Between January and June 2024, TKM has clocked wholesales of 140,023 units, which is a strong 44% increase on year-ago dispatches of 97,498 units (see data table below). Commenting on the strong performance, Sabari Manohar – Vice-President, Sales-Service-Used Car Business, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, “Our product strategy and continued focus on offering a delightful ownership experience across all touchpoints allowed us to maintain a consistently strong performance. Our recently launched Urban Cruiser Taisor continues to perform beyond expectations with order intake doubling compared to the previous month. The model's growing popularity underscores Toyota’s growing presence in the SUV segment. The Urban Cruiser Taisor which embodies a fusion of style, high performance, fuel economy, and a striking exterior design is available in three engine options – 1.0L Turbo, 1.2L Petrol and E-CNG options. What makes it an even greater value proposition is that the SUV is backed by renowned Toyota value-added services specially designed with Indian customers in mind.”
TKM is also benefiting from its new strategic focus on rural areas to broaden its target audience and customer base.
