Bajaj Auto 2W, 3W and Qute exports jump 50% in April-August to 1.26 million units

Despite the turbulent geopolitical scenario, demand for made-in-India vehicles continues to be on the upswing. As per the latest export sales numbers released by SIAM, automobile exports across the passenger vehicle, 2-wheeler, 3-wheeler and quadricycle segments increased by 29.6% to 3.28 million units in April-August 2026.

The industry body did not provide either the domestic or export sales numbers for the commercial vehicle segment, which are released only after every quarter.

Bajaj Auto, the export leader in three of these four vehicle categories, remains the biggest export volume provider in the current fiscal as it did in FY2026, when it exported a record 2.25 million units and contributed 34% to India Auto Inc’s 6.55 million 2Ws, 3Ws and quadricycles shipped overseas.

Despite geopolitical turbulence, Bajaj Auto has exported 1.26 million vehicles in the past five months. This is already 56% of its highest-ever exports of 2.25 million units in FY2026.

Bajaj Auto's 2-Wheeler Exports Surge 50% YoY

In the first five months of FY2027, Bajaj Auto exported 11,00,827 two-wheelers, up 50% YoY (April-August 2025: 734,193 units) comprising 10,96,009 motorcycles (up 49% YoY) and 4,818 Chetak electric scooters.

This gives the company a commanding 41% share of total 2W exports of 2.66 million units. TVS Motor Co, with 743,122 motorcycle, scooter and moped exports and a 28% share, is a distant second.

Considering Bajaj Auto’s highest motorcycle exports to date were 1.96 million units in FY2026, the April-August 2026 bike shipments are already 56% of that total and should see the company achieve a new high in FY2027.

The bulk of the motorcycle exports are from the entry-level, fuel-sipping 100-110cc bikes – 470,362 units, up 95% YoY, 43% share of bike exports) – and the 110-125 category (304,191 units, up 42% YoY, 28% share of bike exports).

Together, these two categories make up 71% of Bajaj’s motorcycle exports in the past five months. While export sales in the 125-150cc category (Boxer, CT 150, Pulsar) at 102,266 units were up 11% YoY, the 150-200cc bikes fared better with 122,481 units and 17% growth.

3-Wheeler Exports Hit 62% Market Share

In the 3-wheeler segment, where Bajaj Auto is the market leader in both domestic and export sales, the company exported 160,685 units in the past five months of FY2027.

This is a 48% YoY increase (April-August 2025: 108,613 units) and gives it a 62% share of the total 259,593 units exported this fiscal YTD. The second-ranked 3W exporter is TVS (83,948 units, up 39% YoY) with a 32% share, and Piaggio Vehicles (11,377 units, up 50% YoY) is ranked third.

Bajaj Qute Exports Jump 206% on Egypt, Turkey Demand

Meanwhile, Bajaj Auto is also witnessing growing demand for its Qute quadricycle, particularly from Egypt, Turkey and some African countries which are key buyers of this four-wheeler.

Export shipments of the Qute jumped 206% YoY to 5,202 units, albeit on a low base (April-August 2025: 1,698 units). This is 78% of the Qute’s highest-ever fiscal sales of 6,696 units in FY2026 and in tandem with the growth in Q1 FY2027. In fact, August 2026 with 1,650 units is the highest-ever monthly export number for the Qute.

Strong Export Momentum Expected to Continue in Q2 FY2027

As in Q1 FY2027, when Bajaj Auto had reported a record performance and had benefited from broad-based growth momentum across a number of export markets other than MENA (Middle East and North Africa), expect Q2 (July-September 2026) to deliver even better numbers.

Motorcycle exports have risen strongly in Latin America, driven by strong growth in Brazil and Mexico – the two largest 2-wheeler market in the region – as also the sharp recovery in Africa, led by Nigeria, where the Boxer 125 (now called Boxer 125 Heavy Duty) is witnessing strong demand.
