The Czech automaker has despatched 3,009 units in January, a three-fold increase over January 2021’s 1,004 units. The key driver for the company’s growth is the new Skoda Kushaq crossover which was launched in June 2020.

According to Zac Hollis, Brand Director, Skoda Auto India, “The continuous growth in our sales volumes is a great statement for our entire team and reflects the confidence our customers have in us. We are looking forward to the rest of the year and are excited about the upcoming launch of Slavia, which along with Kushaq will drive our volumes going forward.”

The company is all set to introduce its midsize sedan – Skoda Slavia – in March for which the production has begun at its Chakan, Pune plant. The Slavia has been localised for the Indian market and built on VW Group’s MQB-A0-IN platform. It will replace the ageing Skoda Rapid in the carmaker’s India line-up and rival the likes of the Honda City and Hyundai Verna.
