Servotech and Electra EV Receive Joint Patent for Low-Voltage EV Charging Device

Servotech Renewable Power System Ltd., an NSE-listed EV charging company, and Electra EV, an electric vehicle technology firm, have jointly been granted a patent by the Indian Patent Office for an electric vehicle charging device. The patent covers technology designed to enable fast DC charging of low-voltage electric vehicles, specifically those operating on sub-200V DC platforms, using existing high-voltage CCS2 charging infrastructure.

According to the companies, the device addresses an interoperability gap in India's EV charging network. Low-voltage electric vehicles — including small commercial EVs, pickup vans, and vehicles built to GB/T Bharat DC 001 standards — have historically been incompatible with widely deployed high-voltage fast-charging systems. The patented device is intended to bridge this gap through power management and voltage conversion capabilities that allow safe energy transfer between the two systems.

The companies state that the technology is aimed at segments central to urban and last-mile freight mobility, where low-voltage EV adoption has been growing. By extending the reach of existing CCS2 charging infrastructure to cover a wider range of vehicle types, the patent is positioned as a means of reducing the need for separate or dedicated low-voltage charging networks.

Arun Handa, Chief Technology Officer at Servotech, said the patent reflects the company's focus on improving charging compatibility for low-voltage commercial fleets. He added that the device has been designed with safety, efficiency, and reliability as primary criteria. No commercial launch date or production timeline for the device was announced alongside the patent grant.
