Exide Industries Infuses Rs 200 Crore into EV Battery Arm Exide Energy Solutions
Fresh rights issue subscription takes cumulative investment in greenfield Bengaluru lithium-ion cell facility to Rs 5,102.23 crore.
Exide Industries Limited has invested an additional Rs 199,99,99,995 (approximately Rs 200 crore) in its wholly owned subsidiary, Exide Energy Solutions Limited (EESL), on a rights basis.
The capital infusion was executed through the subscription and allotment of 5,71,42,857 equity shares of face value Rs 10 each at a premium of Rs 25 per share. With this transaction, Exide said that its cumulative equity investment in EESL stands at Rs 5,102.23 crore, with the parent company's shareholding remaining unchanged at 100%.
The investment forms part of an additional funding plan of up to Rs 1,400 crore approved by the Board of Directors on January 30, 2026, to support the development of EESL's greenfield multi-gigawatt lithium-ion battery cell manufacturing plant in Bengaluru, Karnataka.
