Autocar Professional’s August 15, 2026 Edition is out!

This edition of Autocar Professional examines Audi’s bid to regain ground in India’s luxury car market, with the German brand aiming to double its market share over the next three to five years. Once the first luxury carmaker in India to cross 10,000 annual sales, Audi has lost momentum over the past decade amid an ageing portfolio, slower product launches, the exit from diesel and frequent discounting.

The latest edition looks at how Audi plans to rebuild its position through a faster product cycle, greater local assembly and an expanded retail network, backed by renewed focus from its global leadership. While India’s growing luxury car market and Audi’s strong brand recall offer opportunities, the company faces a tougher competitive landscape, with Mercedes-Benz and BMW strengthening their portfolios, local assembly capabilities and EV offerings. Audi’s lack of diesel models and a locally assembled EV remain key challenges as demand shifts towards larger SUVs and electric luxury vehicles.

This edition also features the North India Special, covering Maruti Suzuki, Hero MotoCorp, Honda, Hyundai, Lumax and Motherson. These stories examine the investments, capacity expansions and product strategies shaping the region’s automotive industry and its growing importance to India’s broader mobility landscape.

Autocar Professional magazine is available through all good newsagents and for download from Magzster.
