SANY India and NAC Complete India's First All-Women Excavator Operator Training Programme
Twenty-two women received IESC-accredited certification in excavator operations at the National Academy of Construction in Andhra Pradesh, with placement support to follow.
A batch of 22 women trainees completed a structured excavator operator course at the National Academy of Construction (NAC) in Pulivendula, Kadapa District, Andhra Pradesh, marking the institution's first all-women cohort in the programme. The participants received certification under the Infrastructure Equipment Skill Council (IESC) framework upon completion of the course in March 2026.
The training was conducted on a SANY SY120 excavator, which SANY India provided to NAC to facilitate hands-on instruction. The company also developed the training syllabus and certified NAC trainers prior to the commencement of the programme, in line with its stated objective of aligning the course with industry operational standards.
A certificate handover ceremony took place on March 6, 2026, at NAC's Andhra Pradesh campus. Madhusudan Katragadda, Dealer Principal of Madhura Engineering Pvt. Ltd., attended as Chief Guest and distributed certificates to the graduating trainees. Rakesh Mekala, Assistant Director of NAC's Kadapa District campus, along with faculty, staff, and representatives from SANY India, were also present at the event.
NAC has indicated it will provide placement support to all graduates from the batch, facilitating their entry into roles within India's infrastructure and construction sectors. The programme's completion was timed to coincide with International Women's Day.
Excavator operation has historically been a male-dominated field in India. Programmes of this nature represent part of a broader effort by industry bodies and training institutions to diversify participation in construction equipment roles, including operations, service, and sales.
SANY India is a manufacturer of construction equipment with operations focused on localisation, skill development, and partnerships with training institutions across India.
The National Academy of Construction is a skill development institution offering industry-aligned training programmes for construction professionals, with placement support for graduates.
