India Energy Week 2026 Launches with Focus on Investment and Global Energy Transition

India Energy Week 2026 opened today with key addresses emphasizing the critical need for sustained investment and international collaboration in the global energy transition, according to a press release from the Press Information Bureau.

Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri delivered the keynote address alongside Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE's Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and ADNOC's Managing Director and Group CEO. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant provided the welcome address for the conference being held in the coastal state.

Minister Puri characterized the global energy transition as fundamentally about "energy addition" rather than replacement, highlighting India's multi-pronged approach spanning oil, gas, biofuels, green hydrogen, LNG and clean cooking fuels. He emphasized India's policy reforms including the Open Acreage Licensing Policy (OALP) and Discovered Small Fields (DSF) bidding rounds designed to attract global investors.

Dr. Al Jaber identified underinvestment as the greatest risk facing the global energy system, calling for balanced funding across all energy forms to maintain security, affordability and sustainability. He noted ADNOC's role as a major supplier to India and the strength of UAE-India energy ties.

Chief Minister Sawant highlighted Goa's ambitious target to achieve 100 percent renewable energy by 2050, while stressing the importance of balancing green economy initiatives with sustainable ocean resource use.

India Energy Week serves as the country's flagship global energy platform, bringing together government leaders, industry executives and innovators to address energy security and sustainability challenges.
