Emerson Expands NI Nigel AI Across Test Software Portfolio
The company said the expanded AI capabilities will support prompt-based code generation and cross-platform intelligence across engineering test and validation workflows.
Emerson has announced the expansion of its NI Nigel AI technology across its test software portfolio, adding prompt-based code generation capabilities to the NI LabVIEW+ Suite and extending AI functionality across multiple engineering tools.
The announcement was made at the company’s annual NI Connect conference, where Emerson outlined plans to position the NI platform as an AI-ready test automation ecosystem for industries such as aerospace, semiconductors and transportation.
According to the company, the updated Nigel AI platform is designed specifically for test engineering environments and will offer context-aware assistance across development, validation and deployment workflows. The new capabilities are expected to become available later in 2026.
The AI functionality will expand beyond LabVIEW+ to include software products such as NI FlexLogger, NI InstrumentStudio, NI TestStand, and NI SystemLink. Emerson said the aim is to improve the efficiency of test development while maintaining transparency and engineering control.
Ritu Favre, president of Emerson’s test and measurement business, said the company’s focus is on integrating hardware, software and data tools into a unified platform capable of adapting to evolving AI-driven engineering requirements.
Emerson stated that the NI platform combines modular hardware, open software architecture and a shared data foundation intended to support large-scale and complex test environments. The company added that its internal teams have used Nigel AI to reduce certain test development and troubleshooting tasks from days or hours to minutes.
The company also highlighted hardware features such as configurable signal support, precise timing and high-performance data movement capabilities for advanced testing applications. It added that the shared data foundation is intended to simplify measurement data management and reuse across teams and facilities.
During keynote presentations at NI Connect, companies including NVIDIA, Alstom, Valeo, Zap Energy and Cyth Systems discussed the use of Emerson’s test and measurement technologies in product development and validation programmes.
