Shell Lubricants says new Rimula T5 E 10W-30 diesel engine oil for Tata Motors CVs will deliver over 3% savings on fuel equivalent to Rs 40,000 per truck per year.

Shell Lubricants says new Rimula T5 E 10W-30 diesel engine oil for Tata Motors CVs will deliver over 3% savings on fuel equivalent to Rs 40,000 per truck per year.

Shell Lubricants, in association with Tata Motors, has launched Shell Rimula T5 E 10W-30 diesel engine oil which is claimed to deliver more than 3% savings on fuel equivalent to Rs 40,000 per truck per year. The product, priced at Rs 399 per litre for a 15-litre pack, is now available across the country.

A new addition to the Rimula portfolio of heavy-duty diesel engine oils, the product uses an advanced combination of semi-synthetic base oils (GTL) and high-performance additives which, Shell says, help in delivering improved fuel economy and protection for operating pressures and temperatures found in Tata engines.

According to Nitin Prasad, managing director, Shell Lubricants India, “At Shell Lubricants India, our focus has always been to provide our patrons with solutions that help improve performance, productivity and profits. Our association with Tata Motors started in 2010-11.”

Cost of ownership, particularly fuel efficiency, is a critical component for truck and bus fleet operators. Shell claims the new Rimula T5 E 10W-30 engine oil has the potential to save almost Rs 40,000 per annum for a truck which has an oil drain interval of 60,000km. The product is said to deliver excellent wear protection and long oil life in Tata engines fitted with 697/497 4SP BS-III and BS-IV and other advanced engines. According to the company, the product also helps improve cold starting and reduces fuel consumption, thereby saving costs without compromising engine protection or durability.

Commenting on the new product, Sanjeev Garg, global head – Customer Care, Tata Motors said, “Tata Motors is happy to collaborate with Shell Lubricants. Considering the challenges faced by the commercial vehicles industry, we believe Shell Rimula T5 E 10W-30 will not only help improve fuel efficiency resulting in reduced diesel consumption and thereby cost saving for customers, but will also have a positive impact on the environment by that measure. We are confident that this product will be a huge success and will benefit truck drivers as well as fleet operators in the long run.”

Akhil Jha, vice-president (Technical), Shell Lubricants India, said: “Shell Lubricants invests enormously in R&D to develop market-leading products and solutions for OEMs and customers across sectors. Shell Rimula T5 E 10W-30 is one such product and is the latest in the Shell Rimula family of heavy-duty diesel engine oils. It is the first time in India that a lubricant would be able to deliver more than 3% fuel economy.”

Neeraj Bhatia, senior VP (Business Development), Shell Lubricants India, added, “We work closely with our customers to find practical solutions to the challenges they face. Shell Rimula T5 E 10W-30 is being launched at an opportune time when the industry is facing serious challenges on the fuel economy front.”
