India's largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) is on track with its plans of becoming the No. 1 SUV player in the country's passenger vehicle market. Its market share in SUVs has risen from 12.5 percent in FY23 to 23 percent in June 2023, already making it the No. 2 SUV maker last month.

Led by new launches such as the Grand Vitara, Fronx, and Jimny, MSIL is marching ahead, and Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, talks about how the company is inching closer to achieving its No. 1 target.

Srivastava also talks about how MSIL has emerged as a strong player in the Rs 10-20 lakh segment, with a 19 percent market share, which grew to 22 percent in Q1 FY24, and making it the segment leader, ahead of arch rival Hyundai Motor India. Maruti Suzuki's premium drive is led by the growing volumes of its models such as the Brezza, Ertiga, Grand Vitara, and XL6.
