Video- Relux’s Big EV Charging Bet: Pan-India Expansion, ₹50 Cr Revenue & 5,000 Chargers
Relux Electric founder Kartikeyan Santharam discusses India’s EV charging ecosystem, expansion plans, fast-charging infrastructure, funding discipline and the company’s strategy for nationwide growth.
India’s EV market is growing rapidly, but the next big challenge is building enough reliable, fast-charging infrastructure to support that growth. In this exclusive conversation with Kartikeyan Santharam, Founder, Relux Electric, we discuss the evolution of India’s EV charging ecosystem, Relux’s journey from a bootstrapped startup to its next phase of expansion, and why the company believes charge point operators could become a major deciding factor in EV adoption.
Relux Electric's Revenue Growth and Profitability
Santharam says Relux’s monthly revenue has grown from around ₹1 crore to ₹4 crore in a year, while the company has remained EBITDA- and PAT-positive for the last three years. For FY27, Relux is targeting ₹35–50 crore in revenue and plans to become a Pan-India company by the end of the fiscal year.
The company currently has around 350 chargers and 700–750 connectors and plans to add another 1,000 connectors this fiscal, with a focus on fast DC charging. Santharam also explains why Relux has chosen to remain disciplined on external funding, and why it moved into contract manufacturing to gain greater control over charger reliability and after-sales service.
Relux's 25 Charging Hubs Plan for Tamil Nadu
The conversation also looks ahead to Relux’s plans for 25 charging hubs in Tamil Nadu, featuring fast/hyper charging, waiting areas and cafés, before taking the hub model across India.
