Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler startup Ultraviolette, which sees major backing from homegrown two-wheeler giant TVS Motor Company, is eyeing global expansion by foraying into the European market.

Ultraviolette is targeting markets like Germany, Italy, Spain, France, and Turkey, with its maiden product - the Ultraviolette F77 - all-electric motorcycle that competes against mid-capacity ICE motorcycles in the 350-500cc segment. The company has received homologation certification for its motorcycle, which is now roadworthy in these European countries.

According to Niraj Rajmohan, CTO and Co-Founder, Ultraviolette, "For us, the starting point is Europe as motorcycling is part of European culture and it is an inherently European thing. We have got our vehicles homologated in these markets."

As per Rajmohan, beyond India, the company sees potential for its products from other geographies such as Europe, North America, Latin America, and Asia Oceania (Japan). "Our products are built for all these markets and we cater to the most aggressive requirements of the mid-capacity (250cc-700cc) motorcycle segment. While the F77 is an urban-sports motorcycle, with our Concept X showcased at EICMA 2024, we aim to expand our portfolio by introducing products in other segments as well," he added.
