India’s electric vehicle charging infrastructure must increasingly be measured by the energy delivered to vehicles rather than the number of chargers installed, according to Ravindra Mohan, Co-Founder and Director, Strategy, ChargeZone.
Speaking at the Autocar Professional India EV Conclave 2026 in New Delhi, Mohan said reliable charging infrastructure, convenient access and seamless payment systems would play an important role in strengthening consumer confidence in electric mobility.
“Today it is not the numbers of chargers that count. It is the electrons or energy that you have delivered to the car which counts,” he said.
Mohan said ChargeZone has electrified approximately 45,000 km of highways through around 1,500 of its own charging points. He also highlighted the company’s reported charger uptime of approximately 98.6%, while acknowledging that grid interruptions can affect the overall customer experience.
The discussion also covered high-power charging for commercial vehicles, second-life EV batteries and ChargeZone’s plans to develop charging stations into energy assets through battery storage and renewable electricity.
