Zuno General Insurance Introduces Crash Detection Feature in Smart Drive Motor Policy

Zuno General Insurance has announced the addition of a real-time crash detection feature to its Smart Drive motor insurance product. This update integrates automated accident alerts within the Zuno app, enabling faster roadside assistance and claims processing.

The new feature builds on the insurer’s existing usage-based model, which assesses driving behaviour through parameters such as speed, braking, and consistency. Customers with high driving scores are eligible for weekly rewards and policy renewal discounts. The system is designed to work through the smartphone app, eliminating the need for any separate installation or hardware.

Incorporating crash detection allows the Smart Drive product to respond immediately in case of an accident by notifying Zuno’s support team, who can then initiate emergency services and claim procedures. This move is aimed at improving the speed and efficiency of assistance during road incidents.

The launch follows data from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, which reported over 461,000 road accidents and more than 168,000 fatalities in 2022—an increase of nearly 12% from the previous year. These figures underscore the importance of timely support in road emergencies.

Zuno General Insurance, formerly Edelweiss General Insurance, began operations in 2018 and now serves over seven million customers. Its distribution network spans various digital platforms and partnerships with automobile and financial service providers including Maruti, Tata Motors, Mahindra, Skoda, Volkswagen, Jeep, OLA, PolicyBazaar, PhonePe, RenewBuy, and others.
