Yamaha Launches 5-Year Roadside Assistance Program for Indian Customers
Japanese motorcycle manufacturer offers comprehensive support package at Rs 975 as part of 40th anniversary milestone in India.
India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd. has introduced a 5-year roadside assistance program priced at Rs 975, marking another step in the company's customer service expansion as it completes four decades of operations in India.
The program provides 24-hour support nationwide and covers multiple emergency scenarios including vehicle breakdowns, accidents, battery failures, flat tires, minor repairs, and medical emergencies. Customers can access towing services and on-site repair assistance through the program.
This roadside assistance initiative works alongside Yamaha's recently launched 10-year warranty program, which combines a standard 2-year warranty with an 8-year extended warranty option. The dual offering represents the company's approach to addressing post-purchase customer concerns in the competitive Indian motorcycle market.
Yamaha's presence in India began in 1985 through a joint venture arrangement. The company transitioned to a wholly-owned subsidiary of Japan's Yamaha Motor Co. Ltd. in 2001, with Mitsui & Co. Ltd. joining as a joint investor in 2008. The manufacturer operates production facilities in Surajpur, Uttar Pradesh, and Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu.
The company's current product lineup spans multiple segments, including sport bikes like the YZF-R3 and YZF-R15 series, naked motorcycles such as the MT-03 and MT-15, adventure-styled models like the FZ-X, and scooters including the Fascino 125 and Ray ZR series. Several models feature hybrid technology and fuel injection systems.
Yamaha has established four subsidiary companies in India to handle different operational aspects: research and development, sales and marketing, manufacturing, and business planning. This structure supports both domestic sales and export operations from its Indian facilities.
The roadside assistance program launch comes as motorcycle manufacturers in India focus on after-sales services to differentiate their offerings in a price-sensitive market. Extended warranty programs and roadside support have become common features as companies seek to build customer loyalty beyond the initial purchase.
