Yamaha Introduces Industry-First 10-Year Warranty Program for Two-Wheelers in India

India Yamaha Motor Pvt. Ltd. (IYM) launched a comprehensive 10-Year Total Warranty program across its entire domestically manufactured range of motorcycles and scooters today, marking the company's 40-year milestone in the Indian market. The new program combines a 2-year standard warranty with an 8-year extended warranty covering engine and electrical components, including the Fuel Injection system.

The warranty provides coverage of up to 100,000 kilometers for Yamaha's hybrid scooter range (Ray ZR Fi, Fascino 125 Fi) and the Aerox 155 Version S maxi-sports scooter. For the company's domestically produced motorcycle lineup, including the FZ Series, R15, and MT-15, coverage extends to 125,000 kilometers.

As part of the launch celebration, Yamaha is initially offering the Total Warranty program at no additional cost to new customers for a limited period. After this promotional phase, the extended warranty will be available for a nominal charge.

A key feature of the program is its transferability to subsequent owners, which the company expects will enhance the resale value of its two-wheelers while demonstrating confidence in product durability and engineering standards.

"This initiative aims to provide customers with greater assurance, long-term dependability, and enhanced value throughout their ownership experience," the company stated in its press release. "Yamaha's 10-Year Total Warranty addresses these expectations by reducing overall ownership costs, improving service value, and supporting a worry-free riding experience over an extended period."

The warranty initiative represents a significant component of Yamaha's premium brand strategy in India, focusing on quality, long-term reliability, and enhanced customer satisfaction.

Yamaha's presence in India dates back to 1985, when it entered the market as a joint venture. In 2001, it became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd., Japan, before Mitsui & Co., Ltd. joined as a joint investor in 2008. The company currently operates manufacturing facilities in Surajpur (Uttar Pradesh) and Kanchipuram (Tamil Nadu), producing motorcycles and parts for both domestic and international markets.

Yamaha's current product lineup in India includes models ranging from 125cc scooters to 321cc motorcycles, with particular emphasis on its hybrid technology offerings in the scooter segment.
