Wipro, the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), and RV College of Engineering have jointly developed a wireless car prototype. The project, developed under the WIRIN (Wipro-IISc Research and Innovation Network) program.

While the platform and powertrain details are not known, images surfaced on the internet show the vehicle having a sharply sculpted front end with sleek LED lighting elements and front parking sensors. It has an aerodynamic silhouette and looks quite futuristic and unique from all angles. The sides feature sliding doors and stylish alloy wheels, while a large glass roof is present too. Though built primarily as a proof of concept, the design itself underscores the technical depth and creativity behind the project.

Sri Satyatmatheertha Swamiji of the Uttaradi Matha took a short passenger ride in the prototype inside the campus, taking a look at the vehicle’s tech and capabilities. The driverless car developed as a project is still in prototype stage, according to various media reports.

What is the WIRIN program?

The WIRIN program, launched jointly by Wipro and IISc, is aimed at accelerating research and innovation in next-generation tech. Its focus spans across domains such as AI, robotics, human–machine interaction, data science, cyber security, smart materials, and advanced manufacturing. Through this partnership, Wipro aims to bring industrial-scale R&D and global experience, while IISc contributes deep academic research capabilities. RV College of Engineering plays a role in the hardware and systems engineering aspects of the autonomous vehicle prototype.
