VinFast Opens First Indian Showroom in Surat Ahead of Manufacturing Launch

VinFast Auto India inaugurated its first showroom in Surat, Gujarat on July 27, 2025, marking the Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer's entry into India's retail market. The facility, located in Piplod and spanning 3,000 square feet, will display the company's VF 6 and VF 7 electric SUVs.

The showroom is operated by Chandan Car, an established automotive retailer in India. VinFast plans to expand its dealer network to 35 locations across more than 27 cities by the end of 2025, according to the company's announcement.

VinFast began accepting pre-orders for its electric SUVs on July 15, 2025, with customers able to book vehicles through showrooms or the company's website for a refundable amount of ₹21,000. The vehicles will be assembled at VinFast's planned manufacturing facility in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu.

Pham Sanh Chau, CEO of VinFast Asia, stated that the Surat showroom represents the company's commitment to the Indian market and aims to provide a complete ownership experience for customers.

VinFast, a subsidiary of Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup JSC and publicly traded on NASDAQ under the symbol VFS, produces electric SUVs, scooters, and buses. The company has been expanding its global presence with operations in North America, Europe, and Asia.

To support its India operations, VinFast has established partnerships with several companies including RoadGrid, myTVS, and Global Assure for charging infrastructure and after-sales services. The company has also partnered with BatX Energies, an Indian clean technology firm, to develop battery recycling programs.

The launch comes as international automakers seek to establish footholds in India's developing electric vehicle market. VinFast's decision to assemble vehicles locally aligns with India's manufacturing policies and could help the company avoid import duties while serving the domestic market.
