TVS Motor’s total sales volume grows 12% YoY in May

TVS Motor’s total sales volume grows 12% YoY in May

TVS Motor Co reported a 12 percent on-year growth in its total sales volume for May on Saturday. The sales improved due to an uptick in the demand for two-wheelers, both in domestic and export markets.

In May, the automaker dispatched 369,914 vehicles, including two and three-wheelers, against 330,609 vehicles in the year-ago period. In April, the automaker sold a total of 383,615 vehicles.

Total two-wheeler sales during the month rose 13 percent on year to 359,590 units. Domestic sales grew 7 percent to 271,140 units, exports increased 33 percent to 88,450 units.

Motorcycle sales were 7 percent higher at 173,627 units and scooter sales were up 20 percent to 145,305 units. The company sold 18,674 electric vehicles in May, compared with 17,953 units sold in the comparable period.

However, TVS Motor’s three-wheeler wholesales declined to 10,324 units from 11,314 units in the year-ago period.

The company exported a total of 96,966 vehicles, including two and three-wheelers in May, up 27 percent on year.
