Toyota Kirloskar Motor Partners with Karnataka Government for Vocational Education

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has signed a memorandum of understanding with Samagra Shikshana Karnataka to strengthen vocational education in the automobile sector for secondary school students across the state.

The initiative will be implemented in eight government schools spanning seven districts: Kudur and Kanakapura in Bengaluru South, Peenya in Bengaluru Urban, Bagepalli in Chikkaballapur, Byadagi in Haveri, Harapanahalli in Vijayanagara, Turvihal in Raichur, and Haliyal in Uttara Kannada. More than 800 students are expected to benefit from the program.

Under the partnership, Toyota Kirloskar Motor will establish automobile skill laboratories in participating schools and conduct comprehensive training programs for faculty members. The Train-the-Trainer initiative will provide educators with exposure to Toyota's manufacturing practices and learning methodologies.

The agreement was formalized in the presence of K. Vidya Kumari, State Project Director of Samagra Shikshana Karnataka, MR Maruti, Director (Quality) at SSK, and A. Ramesh Rao, Vice President of External Affairs-Karnataka and Corporate Social Responsibility at Toyota Kirloskar Motor.

G. Shankara, Executive Vice President of Finance and Administration at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, stated that the program aims to provide students with hands-on industry exposure while emphasizing discipline, safety practices, and professional values. The initiative aligns with the company's commitment to skill development and its vision of contributing to India's growth.

Students participating in the program will gain practical knowledge of automobile technology and exposure to industrial environments. The curriculum combines technical training with broader life skills, including workplace ethics, health and hygiene practices, and sustainability principles.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has been active in corporate social responsibility since its establishment in 2001, focusing on education, environmental conservation, road safety, skill development, healthcare, and disaster management. The vocational education initiative supports national objectives including the Skill India Mission and Viksit Bharat 2047.

The company, a joint venture between Toyota Motor Corporation and Kirloskar Systems Limited, operates manufacturing facilities in Bidadi, Karnataka, with a total installed production capacity of up to 342,000 units annually.
