Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) sold 4,06,081 units in FY2025–26, a 20% increase from the 3,37,148 units recorded in FY2024–25, the company announced on Tuesday. The growth extended across both domestic and export markets, and was consistent through much of the year, with the company posting double-digit monthly gains from as early as January 2026.
In March 2026, TKM's final month of the fiscal year, the company sold 37,194 units — up 24% from 30,043 units in March 2025. Domestic sales for the month stood at 35,125 units compared to 28,373 units a year earlier, while exports came in at 2,069 units against 1,670 units in the same month last year.
For the full financial year, domestic sales rose 19% to 3,67,107 units from 3,09,508 units. Exports saw the sharpest uptick, climbing 41% to 38,974 units from 27,640 units in FY2024–25 — indicating growing international demand for vehicles produced at TKM's Bidadi facilities.
The trajectory was visible well before the fiscal close. In January 2026, TKM sold 33,880 vehicles, up 15% from 29,371 units in January 2025. Domestic sales accounted for the bulk of the volume at 30,630 units, a 17% year-on-year rise, while exports edged up to 3,250 units from 3,193 units a year earlier.
Sabari Manohar, Executive Vice President of Sales, Service and Used Car Business at TKM, attributed the full-year results to sustained demand across the company's SUV, MPV and compact car segments, as well as a series of product introductions through the year. "This momentum reflects the continued trust in Toyota's quality, reliability and overall ownership experience," he said. He added that the company would stay focused on its multi-pathway approach to mobility, encompassing hybrid, electrified and battery-electric technologies.
The company's product activity during FY2025–26 was considerable. Key introductions included the Land Cruiser 300, a new GR-S grade, the Legender MT grade, and special editions of several existing models — the Innova Hycross, Fortuner, Camry Hybrid, Hilux and Urban Cruiser Taisor. TKM also launched an Aero Edition of the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, added a 6-speed automatic transmission to the model's AWD variant, and introduced an electronic parking brake on Neo Drive AT variants. These updates were aimed at broadening the appeal of a portfolio that already spans multiple price points and body styles.
On safety, TKM standardised six airbags across all variants of the Glanza, Urban Cruiser Taisor and Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The Innova Hycross also received a 5-star rating under the Bharat NCAP safety assessment programme during the year, a development the company cited as a factor in sustaining customer confidence.
A notable development earlier in the fiscal year was TKM's entry into the battery-electric vehicle segment. In January 2026, the company launched the Urban Cruiser Ebella, marking its formal entry into India's BEV passenger vehicle space. The launch aligned with Toyota's broader multi-pathway strategy, which continues to balance hybrids, efficient ICE vehicles and electric mobility, though pricing for the Ebella was yet to be announced at the time. The move signals TKM's intent to position itself more competitively as India's EV market expands, while continuing to emphasise its established hybrid lineup.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor is a joint venture between Toyota Motor Corporation of Japan, which holds an 89% stake, and Kirloskar Systems Limited of India, which holds the remaining 11%. The company employs 6,466 permanent staff and operates two manufacturing plants across approximately 432 acres in Bidadi, Karnataka, with a combined installed production capacity of up to 3,42,000 units annually.
The first plant, established in October 1997 and operational since December 1999, produces the Innova HyCross, Innova Crysta, Fortuner and Legender, with a capacity of up to 1,32,000 units. The second plant, which began production in December 2010 on the same Bidadi site, manufactures the Camry Hybrid, Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Hilux, and can produce up to 2,10,000 units annually. Models such as the Glanza, Rumion and Urban Cruiser Taisor are sold under a separate manufacturing arrangement, while the Vellfire and Land Cruiser 300 are imported as completely built units.
The full-year performance places TKM among the faster-growing passenger vehicle manufacturers in India for FY2025–26, at a time when the broader domestic passenger vehicle market is estimated to have grown at a more measured pace. Industry analysts have projected domestic PV dispatches for the full financial year at approximately 4.6–4.65 million units, suggesting overall market growth in the high single digits — making TKM's 19% domestic growth and 41% export growth stand out within the sector.
