Toyota Kirloskar Motor announced the launch of two new technical education centers in Tamil Nadu on May 19. The facilities, established under the corporate social responsibility initiatives of the automaker, are located at the Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya in Coimbatore and the Thanapandiyan Polytechnic College in Madurai.

The two centers have a combined annual intake capacity of over 900 students. The Coimbatore facility will offer programs across key trades including motor vehicle mechanics, fitting, and painting, with an annual intake of 560 students. The Madurai center, which caters to students from surrounding rural regions, will provide training across six technical trades for 360 students annually.

The year-long program is designed for final-year industrial training institute and diploma students. It integrates classroom instruction with practical on-the-job training at authorized Toyota dealerships to bridge the gap between academic learning and industry expectations. The curriculum includes service skills modules alongside training focused on discipline and workplace readiness.

Executive Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Governance at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, Vikram Gulati, stated that the initiative aims to bridge the gap between education and employability by targeting institutions serving rural communities. Since the inception of the technical education program in 2006, the automaker has trained more than 14,000 students across the country. The company reported that over 70 percent of these graduates have secured employment with automobile manufacturers and authorized dealerships.
