STMicroelectronics Earns Top CDP Rating for Climate Change Leadership

STMicroelectronics (NYSE: STM) has been recognized among the top 2% of companies globally for its climate change mitigation efforts, receiving an A-rating from CDP, the global environmental non-profit organization. The semiconductor manufacturer announced that it also received an A-minus rating for its water security programs.

The ratings from CDP, widely considered the gold standard for corporate environmental transparency, were based on data reported through CDP's 2024 Climate questionnaire. STMicroelectronics was one of a select group of companies that achieved an A rating out of nearly 22,400 companies evaluated for climate performance.

"Inclusion in the CDP's A List for Climate is an important recognition of progress on our carbon neutrality commitment for 2027, our efforts on climate change mitigation in our operations and engagement with our partners to decarbonize our supply chain," said Rajita D'Souza, President, Human Resources and Corporate Social Responsibility at STMicroelectronics. "Recognition on the 'A-' list for Water shows that we are making progress in our efforts to reduce our water footprint in our operations and sites and to further develop our positive impact and support for communities."

The company has demonstrated consistent environmental commitment, having disclosed climate protection-related data to CDP since 2004. The A grade is awarded to companies providing detailed, transparent reporting on climate protection activities while showing significant progress in reducing carbon footprint.

STMicroelectronics recently established new sustainability goals extending to 2030 and 2035, building on its existing carbon neutrality commitment for 2027. These new targets focus on decarbonizing the company's supply chain, reducing greenhouse gas emissions upstream, increasing energy savings, enhancing water recycling, and obtaining Alliance for Water Stewardship certification.

The company currently employs 50,000 people and works with more than 200,000 customers and thousands of partners to design semiconductor technologies. STMicroelectronics aims to be carbon neutral in all direct and indirect emissions (scopes 1 and 2), as well as in product transportation, business travel, and employee commuting (scope 3 focus) by the end of 2027, while also achieving 100% renewable electricity sourcing.
