Renault to invest Euro 3 billion in 'new international gameplan 2027', India a part of it

India is expected to be one of the key hubs of Renault's "New International Gameplan 2027" announced on Wednesday in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

As part of its vision to globalise the Renault brand outside of Europe, the French car maker has committed to an investment of Euro 3 billion for the coming four to five years. This is a key part of the European car maker's Renaulution strategy that has shifted focus away from low margin volume products outside of Europe to high value profitable models.

In this regard, Renault will be launching 8 new models till 2027 across its key hubs of Latin America, North Africa, Turkey, South Korea including India. The eight models, include, 1 B segment SUVs, 3 C segment SUVs, 2 D segment SUVs and 2 pick up trucks.

Aimed at delivering synergies and economies of scale, these products will be based on two different Renault Group platforms - with a key focus on E-Tech - offering a range of electrified solutions from 48 volt hybrids, to strong hybrids and battery electric vehicles.

Announcing this new vision statement in Rio De Janeiro on Wednesday, Fabrice Cambolive, CEO of Renault Brand said this new international plan brings brand consistency across all markets around the world and helps the company introduce competitive products, answering customer needs and bringing more value and profitability for the company.

"It is an ambitious plan - in terms of numbers - Euro 3 billion investment, 8 new models by 2027 of which more than half of them in C and D segment, with 1 in 3 every Renault car sold outside of Europe to come from either hybrid or electric. All this with the same focus on value, the plan will deliver double net revenue per unit compared to 2019 levels. It enhances our competitiveness with more synergies between the different regions," added Cambolive.

Outside Europe, Renault is present in 80 countries, serving 13 million customers. Renault is the No. 1 French brand in the world, with 40% of its sales coming outside of Europe.

The management said, these new models have been designed and developed based on the four strategic principles:

a) All of them will have Renault DNA in terms of design language and brand markets

b) 5 new C&D segment models and 2 LCVs by 2027

c) accelerating electrification of lineup 1 in 3 Renault cars sold outside Europe will be hybrid or electric,

d) New modular platform industrialised in 4 different hubs - Latin America, Turkiye, Morocco and India.

The new plan is based on 2 platforms:

a) Compact Modular Architecture platform for South Korea.

b) fully new modular platform. This will be used in 4 strategic industrial regions beyond Europe - Latin America, Turkiye, Morocco, India.

This platform is scalable and flexible and compatible with many powertrains like - ICE, flex fuel, LPG, Hybrid, 48V, fully hybrid, announced Renault. The platform will be used to develop vehicles between 4 to 5 meters in length, three different wheel bases and they will also offer 4X4 capabilities to its users.
