Kia India Introduces CNG Variants of Carens and Carens Clavis from Rs 12.11 Lakh

Kia India has officially introduced the CNG variants of its Carens and Carens Clavis models, with prices starting from Rs 12,11,800 (ex-showroom).

The introduction marks the first time the carmaker is offering factory-fitted CNG kits in its Indian lineup, compared to the previous-generation Carens which relied on dealer-level CNG installations.

The Carens CNG is offered in a single Premium (O) trim at Rs 12.11 Lakh, while the Carens Clavis CNG is available across two trims, HTE at Rs 12.38 Lakh and HTE (O) at Rs 13.34 Lakh.

Both MPVs use a 1.5 litre naturally aspirated engine mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. In CNG mode, the powertrain produces 96 PS of power and 123 Nm of torque, 20 PS and 21 Nm down on the petrol version. The setup incorporates a 60-litre CNG tank positioned under the boot floor alongside the standard petrol tank. The packaging retains the three-row configuration and a spare tyre, although available boot space drops to 116 litres with all three rows in upright use.

Chassis and hardware also undergo changes, include modified suspension tuning, CNG-specific engine calibration, 16-inch front disc brakes, and R16 wheels. Additional equipment includes a dashboard fuel change switch, a 4.2-inch colour TFT display featuring CNG Distance to Empty (DTE) logic, and a modified third-row seat-back frame.
